The 205 km long road, Camino Natural del Matarraña-Algars, crosses an area of great historical and nature interest. The circular route is divided into 14 stages, some of wich run consecutively, plus additional sections. It crosses the counties of Matarraña/Matarranya (Teruel), Bajo Aragón-Caspe/Baix Aragó-Casp (Zaragoza) and Tierra Alta/Terra Alta (Tarragona).
Mountains, riverside terracing and historical villages are the highlights of this route, recomended for nature-lovers and history buffs.
The first 7km stage (or 7,7 km if you take the San Miquel path) links El Parrizal to Beceite. It passes through points of interest including the Fenellosa paintings and the fortifications of Cabrera (remains of the 19th Century Carlist wars).
The second stage links Beceite to Valderrobres with a 6km walk. Paper factories and two impressive monumental trees, aspruce and a cedar, are some of theattractions which, in addition in the early stages the route, winds through the heart of the local water channels feeding Bonet’s small hidroelectric power plant.
